(July/August 2010)

In late May 2010 GEN (Global Ecovillage Network) uploaded its newly revised website — and Ecovillages newsletter is now one of several ecovillage-activist projects recommended by and linked to GEN’s new home page.

When I started Ecovillages in 2008 I wanted to inspire and encourage people with news of ecovillage projects and similar ecological settlements internationally. I wrote all the early articles myself, but soon ecovillage residents and ecovillage travelers worldwide began sending articles too. And now that Ecovillages is featured on GEN’s home page, it has many more subscribers — and from all over the world, from Austria to Japan, Argentina to Finland. Thank you!

Other ecovillage organizations featured on GEN’s homepage are Gaia Education and NextGEN (both officially linked to GEN), and Ecovillage Radio, an independent project based in British Columbia.

In May 2010 I also became one of four featured bimonthly columnists on the GEN home page. My column, “Ecovillage Roots,” will also appear as an article in this newsletter. Other GEN webpage columns are “Ecovillage Musings” by Max Lindegger, Australian permaculturist and Crystal Waters cofounder; “Gaia Education Worldwide” by May East, Gaia Education Director and member of Findhorn Foundation in Scotland; and “Breakaway” by Ross Jackson, Denmark-based cofounder of Gaia Trust and Global Ecovillage Network.

Thank you, Global Ecovillage Network!
